• Excess supply at student level  as compared  to employment market in India
• Significant amount of actuarial work being carried out within India which are offshored from other countries
• Global nature of traditional actuarial employers within India, such as Insurers and actuarial consultants.

Keeping in mind the current scenario, the Council advised that there should be

• Intense deliberation and definition of the key ingredients of the Vision, Mission and Values statement of IAI
• Formulation of strategic plans and setting up of processes to ensure wider dissemination of these statements amongst the members of our profession and other key stakeholders.

For this, the Institute held 3 Strategy Initiative Workshops which will culminate with the 2 day Strategy Initiative Workshop, conducted by Prof. Indira Parikh and Prof. J. Ramachandran. They would be facilitating the entire discussion on Vision, Value and Mission statement.

The Strategy Initiative Workshops is being led by the Strategy Initiative Task Force (SITF). The attendees of these workshops are the Strategy Initiative Wider Group (SIWG) consisting of Council members, Chairs/Secretaries of the Advisory Groups, SITF members, invitees who are the senior IAI members and senior staff of the Institute.
